Mission statement

United Tooth Fairies is on a mission to brighten every young girl’s smile in Guatemala’s underserved community through education, prevention, and treatment of childhood cavities and dental disease.

United Tooth Fairies was created to help young Guatemalan girls receive dental care that meets the U.S. standard of care. We strive to provide the ongoing support and educational tools they need to learn the importance of oral health.
Why this work matters

Tooth decay here is a poverty problem, not a hygiene problem

Decay is driven by no basic dental hygiene, no access to fluoridation, poor diet and easy access to high-sugar snacks and drinks. Girls have less access to health care and education than boys.

Our story

Three hygienists, one shared conviction

United Tooth Fairies was founded in 2016 by three dental hygienists: Roberta Schuller, Jolie Rowell and Lisa Mobraten. Through their dental community they attended conventions, outreach programs and fundraisers. They all had the same desire to help others, and agreed there was a great need to spread the word about oral health and provide services to those less fortunate.
Who we help

The IMA School for Girls

We work with IMA USA (International Medical Assistance) to provide oral care to their students. IMA is a U.S.-based Christian nonprofit running an all-girls school from pre-K through 9th grade in Guatemala, dedicated to helping impoverished Guatemalan girls reach their full potential. We hope to continue this work and build lasting relationships with each girl and her family.

A girl you helped

“Orthodontia has changed my life.”

“I had problems with my teeth since I was very little. At my school, IMA, I met a group of dental hygienists who provided dental help to the girls. It was then that I met Roberta, who helped me with my orthodontic care. I was very self-conscious about my smile, but thanks to United Tooth Fairies I am able to smile with confidence.”
